The mission of The Catoctin Preservation Foundation is to seek preservation of the scenic, historic, cultural, and environmental heritage of northwestern Loudoun County, Virginia, by engaging in the following kinds of activities:

1.    Researching and educating the public about land use policies that have been successfully used in other areas in furtherance of “smart growth” and heritage preservation objectives.


2.    Monitoring compliance with and aiding in the enforcement of environmental, health, legal, and traffic safety requirements applicable to local land development.


3.    Encouraging the donation or acquisition of scenic easements and their use in connection with land preservation and land development conducted in harmony with heritage preservation goals.


4.    Seeking to preserve local sites of scenic, historic, cultural, and environmental interest and their surroundings.


5.     Supporting community activities that increase public awareness of the local heritage.
